It’s that time again where we look at the new, exciting upcoming releases in the world of comics in our March 2020 Previews. There is a whole country that’s getting high and we get a continuation of something I didn’t really understand in the first place. Plus a new monthly Valiant with my favorite Cullen Bunn!

Batman The Adventures Continue #1 – DC Comics

If you grew up poor or didn’t have cable in the 90’s and early 2000’s, you probably remember Batman the Animated Series suddenly disappearing from Fox. That’s because WB put it on its WB Kidz network or whatever it was called, and you needed a parent who was an executive to afford it. So naturally you wondered what would’ve happened if those adventures continued. Well now you can! (also you can just buy the DVDs and Blu Rays to find out)

Batman The Adventures Continue is a continuation of that universe that was produced by Paul Dini and Alan Burnett with art by Ty Templeton. Here’s the synopsis:

In this opening chapter, Wayne Enterprises in Gotham City is attacked by a giant robot that steals an entire room from the laboratory. Who’s controlling the robot? How will Batman stop the mechanized menace? And what does it all have to do with Lex Luthor’s sudden appearance in Gotham?

Dark Nights Death Metal #1 – DC Comics

I got back into comics in late 2016, early 2017 and my first big event was Dark Nights Metal, which ended up having ramifications across the entire DCU. Honestly, I didn’t understand what happened exactly and I do need to reread it. Regardless, as I’m in that group of completionists that these evil comic book companies prey upon so they can take all our money, I’m all in. Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are back with assistance form Jonathon Glapion.

Rock on.

My Little Pony Transformers Friendships in Disguise #1 – IDW Publishing

Marijuana is being legalized all across the United States at an alarming pace.

When Queen Chrysalis casts a spell looking for more changelings, she accidentally interferes with a malfunctioning Spacebridge! What’s this mean for our favorite fillies? There are suddenly a bunch of Autobots and Decepticons in Equestria! And as the dust settles, Rarity and Arcee find themselves teaming up against a hostile Decepticon force…

Metal Men #8 – DC Comics

The big news last month was that Dan Dido was fired as publisher from DC Comics. Now, I’m curious on how far in advance these things are written, but Mr. Dido is currently writing a series for DC. And with Dido gone, it honestly made me more interested in Metal Men. And honestly, considering the news, perhaps I should’ve bought these books in the first place.

But in all seriousness, I was sad to read this development. Dido’s been with the company for a while, and I watched the entire DC Universe 10th Anniversary Edition Blu Ray set, special features and all, and he’s all over those discs. He loves DC and he loves these characters. So needless to say I fell in love with Dan Dido and now he’s gone. I wish him the best and I hope they left things on good terms.

And to make a good transition, I know of a company who would probably love to have him as a certain former DC publisher has an ongoing series with them…

Shadowman #1 – Valiant Entertainment

It’s another month, which means another Valiant comic. This month we’re in for a treat as Cullen Bunn takes over Shadowman.

I’m the first to admit that I don’t know much about the character. The only thing I knew was from my time playing the horrible game on the N64 because I was confused most of the time. But who am I to say what makes a game good or not? Because IGN gave Showman 64 a glowing 9.1 in their review back in the day, which made me rent it from Hastings in the first place (5 of you will get this joke).

Regardless I’m really excited about this comic because joining Bunn is Jon Davis-Hunt. I loved Hunt’s work on The Wild Storm. He’s great at action and drawing characters and I know he’s going to bring some crazy images to Bunn’s sadistic ideas.

So Cullen and Jon, cleanse my pallet that was Shadowman 64. I’m beggin’ you.
