    12 – Marvel vs. DC

Marvel and DC made quite the ripples a few weeks ago when they announced a new Marvel and DC crossover. This is not anything new of course, these two companies have combined talents and characters to great effect in the past. I still remember those two wonderful Superman vs Spider-Man stories in those gorgeous oversized formats punching me in the face. Then of course we had the 90’s, when you could vote on which character would defeat which, to great fanfare.

Some saw this coming because the two companies recently released some Omnibuses of the 90’s event, so some did sniff that something was indeed in the works. And the possibilities are indeed endless. I dare say that the Legion of Super-Heroes have been making a return, albeit in an agonizingly slow way. Will we actually see some of that Jonathan Hickman take/pitch that almost came to be?

But if you like one company more than the other on some days, and then the other one the next, perhaps this is enough to make your head explode. The news did break Curt because he just did not know what to do. Some believe him to be a robot and that this revelation simply did not gel well with his programming and for that he self-destructed. I do not believe he self-destructed because he will be back tomorrow as he always is. But I also cannot rule out him being a robot.

Quiver’s intentions are bit more realized, though he does talk like he is from another planet. As if we need to be studied and as if Curt should represent the entire human race for said study.

Either way, it was a shock when it was apparent that he is not going away any time soon. And as we all know that Franka seems to enjoy his company, I do fret that it will be longer than his intended year.

We are now eleven (!) installments into our first year and we will officially hit the quarter mark next week. We do have some fun entries coming up and you can expect more multiple parters. They are a bit easier for Franka to conceptualize and keep it moving, but we’ll also have quite a few ‘ones and dones’ that pokes fun at the comic book industry, albeit in a positive way. Which is the mission of Solicitations and I do hope this has come across.

I think Franka will take over on Thursday so I can sweep up all the loose fur on the floor. I guess Ligers do shed?
