My pick of the week is the start of the Doctor Doom event, One World Under Doom from Marvel Comics. The first issue came out yesterday and if you haven’t been tasting what Ryan North and Ivan Fiorelli have been cooking over on the Fantastic Four series, you are missing out because it’s been very good.
Doom came back front and center after that humongous Blood Hunt event spearheaded by Jed MacKay and Pepe Larraz. The big change that came out of that was the other doctor, Doctor Strange, losing his Sorcerer Supreme status to, you guessed it, Doctor Doom.
So Doctor Doom has been the Sorcerer Supreme and he has been biding his time until now. Marvel also made a very cool trailer, which I included below.
I think this one will have legs because, if anything, it will be a lot more affordable than what Blood Hunt was. If you already have been pulling Fantastic Four, it’s really no sweat to add nine issues of One World Under Doom. I do hope they keep it contained because, in my opinion, the events have been getting out of hand as of late, for both of the big companies.
Either way, with the Fantastic Four movie opening in July and now the One World Under Doom event, it will definitely be a year for our favorite family, the Fantastic Four.
