I guess this is an IDW Publishing week. When I look around and see what is selling, it is definitely Jason Aaron’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The concept is cool because not only is Aaron an incredible writer, but each new issue in this series has a new artist.
Issue #6 arrived yesterday and it was gobbled up quite quickly, and I even had people show up on the day to pick it up. If that does not tell you that IDW has a winner on its hands I don’t know what will.
I have flipped through these and I also have to say I can recommend them. There is a lot of tragedy in these, and as each issue before focused on what a specific Turtle has been up to, we have arrived at Donatello. Issue #5 was incredibly powerful, and if you are a Turtles fan (which I am), it was also gut wrenching to read. Thankfully, issue #6 seems to pick up where we left off last time, so I do hope Aaron does not make us squirm too much. The artist this time around is Juan Ferreyra, and if you read the solicits from IDW a couple of months ago, it was revealed that he is the new ongoing artist. And that is exciting because those interiors sure are beautiful.
I will link to a Bleeding Cool article that has the synopsis as well as more than few snaps of the interior art, which just proves how great Ferreryra really is. Though be warned, there are quite a few spoilers if you have not read up to this point.
